I’m a Boston-based photographer specializing in concert, travel, and event work.
I started in the late 1980s, when my friends were playing in hardcore bands and we spent every weekend driving to shows around the tri-state area. I was just a kid taking photo classes back then, but once I started photographing those bands, I never stopped. More than 35 years later, I still rarely go to a show without a camera.
When I came out, I began documenting the LGBTQ+ events in my life — from Carnival in Provincetown and Pride in NYC to Folsom Street Fair and the March on Washington. It felt important to capture my friends, my community, and the struggles.
Travel photography became another passion as the years went on. My camera has come everywhere with me — Rome to the Galápagos, San Francisco to Montreal, Amsterdam to London. Recent trips include Iceland, Portugal, Costa Rica, and Austria.
In 2013, a friend invited me to Burning Man for the first time, and I've been hooked ever since. The art there is otherworldly, and there's nothing quite like photographing it in the Black Rock Desert — especially at night.
Most of my published work comes from concert photography. I've contributed to books, magazines, records, and merchandise, and built a large archive spanning thousands of bands — from Boston to Louisville, from small punk shows to arena stages.
